Pre Event

I plan to attend the Summer Job and Internship Fair here at Saginaw Valley State University. This employment fair will take place on Tuesday, January 31^st between 11 to 1 AM. I chose to go to this event because I think it could be very helpful for me seeing as I am a student looking for a Summer internship. I looked at the list of employers that will be there and I think talking to these companies and making connections will be very beneficial. Because I have attended Job Fairs and other events like this here at SVSU that have been a success I expect it to go fairly smoothly.  I am excited and eager to attend this event and see what opportunities I come across.

My plan to prepare for this event is to do some research of some companies that interest me such as Quicken Loans and Morley. Within my research, I hope to find what kind of candidates these companies are looking for and what they strive for as an organization. I plan to get my thoughts together on what could be some good talking points and think of some ways to really sell myself to these companies. My plan also includes to pick out a nice Business Casual outfit the night before such as dress pants and a nice shirt. I will print out around 10 copies of my resume to have on hand for any company that would like one. The main thing I will do to prepare for this event is make a few mental notes and goals to achieve by the end of the event such as talking to certain companies and saying certain things in hopes to leave a lasting impression. 

While looking at the list of businesses that will be at the employment fair I see a lot that could potentially be searching for public relations professionals. Companies like Morley and Quicken Loans. Through my research, I have found that Morley has a need for candidates going into marketing. With such a big marketing field, I figure public relations will be needed as well. As for Quicken Loans I have heard very good things about their summer internship program. Like Morley, Quicken Loans does a lot in the marketing field. I feel as though it would be good to discuss my public relations interest and see what they say about how their company handles public relations. I am very excited to go to this event and see where the opportunities take me.
